Our Story

We started this because we lived it.

Bright Path Care was founded by a family who experienced firsthand how hard it is to find trustworthy, compassionate care for an aging parent. We built the company we wished had existed — one where caregivers are treated like professionals and families are treated like partners.

Our story

In 2018, our founder Maria Okafor spent six months searching for reliable homecare for her mother after a fall left her unable to live independently. What she found was a fragmented, impersonal system — agencies that overpromised and underdelivered, caregivers who were underpaid and undertrained, and families left to figure it out alone.

She founded Bright Path Care with a simple belief: that seniors deserve to age with dignity, and that the people who care for them deserve to be treated with respect. Since opening our doors in Chicago, we've grown into a trusted partner for hundreds of families across the metro area.

Today, every caregiver we hire goes through a rigorous background check, skills assessment, and ongoing training program. We pay above-market wages because we believe that when caregivers feel valued, the people they care for feel it too.

Our mission

"To make compassionate, professional homecare accessible to every family who needs it — delivered by caregivers who are trained, trusted, and genuinely invested in the people they serve."

What we stand for

Dignity first

Every person we serve is treated with the same respect and care we'd want for our own family members. No exceptions.

Radical reliability

We show up. On time, every time. Families count on us, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Caregiver excellence

We hire carefully, train thoroughly, and support our caregivers so they can do their best work every day.

Family partnership

We communicate openly, involve families in care decisions, and treat every relationship as a long-term partnership.

The people behind the care

Our leadership team brings together decades of experience in healthcare, social work, and operations — united by a shared commitment to doing this right.
